Eco-responsible management of Golf de Servanes

For several years now, Golf de Servanes has been fully committed to the ecological transition and sustainable development. Every action taken on the golf course is carefully thought through to ensure respect for the natural resources and biodiversity that surround us.

Interview with Jean Badéa, Director and Simon Valmy, Superintendent of Golf de Servanes

Jean Badéa et Simon Valmy au Golf de Servanes

We talk about the actions we have taken in response to ecological issues and we focus our work on the different pillars that make up the fundamentals of responsible maintenance:

  • Water management
  • Preservation of biodiversity
  • Controlled use of products
  • The sod farm
  • Events & meetings
  • Certifications

2. Water management

Good water management is a major issue for Golf de Servanes. An investment of nearly €2 million has enabled the watering system to be gradually upgraded, providing highly accurate watering control and reducing water consumption by more than 60% in a short space of time.

3. Preserving biodiversity

Golf de Servanes, set in the heart of a preserved environment, is a veritable green lung where biodiversity flourishes. By helping to protect the ecosystem, we are helping to maintain a natural balance and ensure the long-term survival of this beautiful biological diversity.

4. Controlled use of products

In response to growing concerns about protecting the environment, Golf de Servanes is committed to achieving zero phyto use by 2025, by favouring natural, nature-friendly alternatives. This approach demonstrates our commitment to sustainable development, offering golfers a pleasant environment without compromising the health of neighbouring ecosystems.

5. The sod farm

Golf de Servanes, renowned for its magnificent course, has a huge lawn where Bermuda Grass cuttings are taken. These cuttings, which help to regenerate the course, are of exceptional quality, guaranteeing a perfectly maintained lawn.

6. Events and meetings

At our information workshops, we focus on our practices, aiming to better explain the use of bio-stimulant products as well as macro-organisms and basic biocontrol substances. In this way, we aim to raise public awareness of the importance of preserving and responsibly managing our precious resources, which are essential to our business.

Label for biodiversity

Golf de Servanes, renowned for its exceptional biodiversity, has been awarded the GEO “Golf Environnement Organisation” label. Continuing its initiatives and commitment to preserving nature, the golf course is now aiming for the ffgolf Silver Label.
