The operation was carried out with the utmost care by trained teams equipped with specialist equipment. The nests were carefully removed from the trees using poles and safety devices to prevent any dispersal of the stinging hairs. The nests were then disposed of in a controlled manner in line with ecological recommendations, ensuring an effective and environmentally-friendly intervention.
Combating processionary caterpillars: an essential action to preserve our environment
As part of our ongoing commitment to making golf more environmentally friendly, we recently removed the nests of processionary caterpillars from the Servanes golf course.
Why intervene?
Pine processionary caterpillars are an invasive species whose proliferation can have serious consequences for the health of trees, humans and animals alike. Their stinging hairs are a major hazard, causing allergic reactions that can be severe. In order to preserve the biodiversity of our course and ensure the safety of our golfers and 4-legged friends, we have set up a targeted control programme.
How did we go about it?

A call for vigilance
Although this action will considerably reduce the presence of caterpillars, it is important to remain cautious when moving along the route. A few individuals may still be present on the ground, particularly when moving in procession. We therefore recommend that you do not touch these caterpillars and that you report any suspicious sightings to the golf reception desk.
Golf de Servanes remains committed to providing a safe and unspoilt playing environment. Thank you all for your vigilance and your commitment to our environment!
